About Us
Flava Dance Academy has been committed to providing dance education since 2001 by Marissa Hernandez. Her love of dance and Gymnastics started in middle school and high school where she was exposed to ballet, jazz, break dance and gymnastics. In high school she also competed on the Varsity gymnastic team and was on the Mt. Miguel dance team. Her passion of dance continued at Grossmont college where she trained in ballet, modern, african jazz and hip hop and graduated with a certificate of dance education.
She started a dance and health program in San Diego, California as after school programs educating children not just in dance but also teaching them about fruits and vegetables. In 2004 she expanded her programs to Kissimmee, Florida and has worked with many elementary schools in the Osceola and Orange County schools, recreation centers and private schools educating students with her love of dance and gymnastic.

Marissa has also trained in Salsa and Bachata with Salsa Heat training and ladies styling teams performing at many events. For years she has created performance dance teams developing their skills while fostering their passion for movement.
Her teams have performed at many places like the Orlando Magic game, Disney Springs, Harlem Globe Totters, Give Kids the world foundation, Orlando Salsa Congress, Just Dance Fest and many fairs and festivals around Kissimmee, Orlando and Tampa.Her goal is to continue to help her students develop confidence, self-worth, have fun and gain a second family while showcasing their talent and passion for dance in the community.
